The stately Scarlet Oak tree is the tree of the District of Columbia. Also called the black oak, red oak or Spanish oak, it is known for its brilliant autumn color. After spending 4 years on the West Coast, I missed the vibrant colors found on the East Coast in the fall and felt that the Scarlet Oak was the perfect representation for my new practice.

To me, optimum health is not just the absence of disease, but it is the active presence of wellness. Optimized health is steady energy without stimulants, sleeping like a baby, absorbing and digesting your food without issue, managing life stress without feeling like you are losing control and enjoying glowing skin and a robust immune system.
Services
Acupuncture and herbal medicine are parts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), dating back more than 2000 years.
Treating complaints as varied as back pain, digestive issues, infertility, allergies and common colds, TCM treats patients holistically, evaluating every aspect of patients' lives, including their sleep, diet and emotions.
Unlike traditional Western medicine, which can often offer prescriptions intended to treat a symptom, TCM goes deeper in an effort to treat the cause of disease.

Try a different type of needle!
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatments combine the best of Chinese medicine with the best of Western technology to offer a treatment that can reduce fine lines, improve tone and texture, reduce the appearance of scars, and brighten the complexion.
We start with facial needles appropriate for your skin concerns, you will rest under a Celluma LED light therapy panel and then we will finish with facial cupping, gua sha and jade rolling using the exquisite products from 5Yina, a skincare brand started by an acupuncturist in California.
Functional Medicine is a patient-centered, systems based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease.
Instead of looking at each symptom as its own line of inquiry, functional medicine looks at the body systems behind those symptoms, seeking to restore balance at the deepest levels of the body.
This is personalized medicine, there is no "one size fits all" with functional medicine.
Our team will find the way your body expresses symptoms.
This set of expressions is a complex web of historical data (genes and childhood), environment (exposures and toxins), lifestyle, dietary needs, and more.
Herbal medicine is equally important as acupuncture and in many cases, such as management of menopausal symptoms, can be the more important modality of the two.
Chinese herbal medicine utilizes hundreds of herbs, including some as familiar as turmeric root, honeysuckle or chrysanthemum flower.
Herbal medicine is prescribed in formulas and can be taken in pill or granule form or even applied externally in cases of trauma, skin disorders or facial rejuvenation treatment.
Herbal medicine is powerful medicine and can treat complaints as serious as insomnia, arthritis, hot flashes and IBS.
