At HealingWisdom Medicine, we offer Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine; both a highly sophisticated medical therapy and healing art form in the prevention and treatment of pain and illness. Health is sustained on a physiological, psychological and spiritual level through the body's profound and innate ability to understand, create, and maintain wellness.

The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that bodily functions are regulated by an energy called Qi which flows through the body; disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Chinese medical diagnosis reflects the ability to integrate the multiple symptoms of person's suffering into a coherent and at times surprisingly simple explanation.

This is Chinese Herbal Medicine; commonly treating anxiety and back pain or worry and digestive issues simultaneously.
Services
Emily Cooper, MPH, MOM, L.Ac is a licensed Chinese Medicine Practitioner on Farragut Square, in NorthWest Washington DC.
She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Oriental Medicine degree from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, a Western pioneer in the transmission of the 5,000 year old art of Classical Chinese Acupuncture.
Highly trained in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Emily is board certified in Acupuncture and a certified Acu Detox Specialist in the trauma protocol established by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.
Your first appointment will allow for a comprehensive health interview and also your first treatment.
Together, you and Emily will explore your medical and social history as well as body systems and lifestyle habits, design your goals for treatment, and discuss your need for support, symptoms, history, where you are thriving and where you are struggling.
Follow up appointments aim to continue the resolution of pain, illness, and sustain balance in the body and mind, and spirit and depending on the nature of the concern, treatment can last several weeks, or many months.
After practicing as an in-network clinician for many years, Emily chose to no longer accept insurance in 2019.
As a practitioner who endeavors to provide the very best and most effective care for her patients' nuanced physical, emotional and spiritual needs, she felt continuing as an in-network practitioner with insurance companies became prohibitive of fully and effectively meeting and caring for her patients' varied and dynamic needs.
Practicing as an out-of-network practitioner allows Emily to give more time, attention, and energy to each patient, and she sees more fruitful results of her work, and more rapid transformations in her patients.
