Leah Rainer, MAOM, L.Ac is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist who is excited to introduce you to a new approach to whole body health. Using the Eastern understanding of the body, she looks at each person as an individual with their own unique set of symptoms. She will work with you to develop a wellness plan specific to your needs. Together, you can move towards a healthier and more comfortable life.

As a graduate of the leading Chinese medical school, the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, she is happy to be part of fostering a community of wellness in the Capital Region. Acupuncture is an ancient technique that has been used for over 3000 years. Fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific points to target a variety of ailments. An herbal formula will be created that is specific to your condition.

Herbal consults are included in acupuncture appointments, or can be done as a separate service at a lesser cost. Adjunct therapies such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and massage are used when appropriate.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic approach to wellness.
With over 3000 years of clinical evidence, I am confident that we can work together to optimize your health.
After a thorough health interview, I will determine a treatment plan that will include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and lifestyle changes.
Acupuncture is a technique that allows me to work with your body's systems by inserting very fine needles into specific points on your body, encouraging your systems into a state of balance.
Herbal medicine is a key component of Chinese medicine.
I am deeply drawn to and excited by the effectiveness of plants as medicine.
The way we use herbs in Chinese medicine is different than Western herbalism.
Instead of using one herb for one symptom, we create a formula of herbs unique to each symptom set.
Taking an herbal formula can support the body between treatments and enhance the effects of the treatments.
Ailments that we have been experiencing for a long time or which reside deeply in our bodies may require herbs in conjunction with acupuncture.
Cupping is a technique used in conjunction with acupuncture to promote circulation, loosen tight muscles, break adhesions, and encourage the body to flush toxins.
It uses suction to adhere cups to your body, which are then either left in place over certain acupuncture points or areas of acute muscle tension, or are moved over a larger area of the body.
Cupping often leaves some marks or bruising as a result of the suction which will typically resolve within a week.
Moxibustion (Moxa) uses a Chinese herb called Ai Ye, or mugwort, to apply heat to acupuncture points.
