At Andress Acupuncture, OUR MISSION IS TO GUIDE you toward HEALTH & WELLNESS WITH PERSOnALIZED, EXPERT CARE.
With a well-rounded approach TO HEALTH, we bring lasting change for chronic and acute issues.
We diagnose the cause of illness, treat the illness at it's most basic level, and recommend LIFESTYLE CHANGES to BENEFIT your BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT.
Carrie Andress is passionate about health and well-being and has been an Acupuncturist for over 20 years.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and a Masters from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture.
In our sessions, we use a mix of Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na Medical Massage, E-Stim, Bodywork and other modalities to get to the root of illness and encourage healing.
Based on thousands of year old practices, acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body to achieve optimal health.
Acupuncture is based on the concept of Qi, and the theory of Yin and Yang.
Qi is energy, or life force.
Yin and Yang describe the dynamic opposites that exist in our body at all times.
As a former athlete - bodybuilder, long distance runner, SKIER and climber - Carrie Andress is especially equipped to treat sports injuries, and often eliminatES the need for surgery or medical intervention.
Unlike surgery or medications, acupuncture produces very little side effects.
This is why we love treating athletes - from professional climbers to body builders to runners to dancers and everyone in between.
Acupuncture increases range of motion and encourages healing.
With deep knowledge of the body, we use a number of techniques to speed the healing process to get you back on your feet.
If your body is not showing a "normal" cycle curve, acupuncture and the right herbal formula can correct this.
Use a Basal Body Temperature (BBT) chart.
Begin recording your temperature with a digital thermometer every morning upon awakening (before rising).
A typical graph will show a slight drop in temperature just prior to ovulation followed by a rise between 0.3 and 1.0 degree Fahrenheit, a result of rising progesterone after ovulation.
Progesterone (and temperature) should remain elevated approximately 14 days and then drop, signaling the onset of menses.
Functional Medicine Nutrition is an individualized, science-based approach to care that allows patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.
It requires a detailed understanding of each patient's genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors, and uses that data to create a personalized treatment plan.
Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at their health history and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health.
