Qi (pronounced Chee) can be thought of as an energy or "life force".
Since the total absence of Qi is death, one's health depends on a balanced distribution of Qi throughout the body.
Disease and pain occur when there is an abundance or a deficiency of Qi in one or more areas of the body.
With acupuncture, Qi is given the opportunity to flow easily and more harmoniously.
Several thousand years ago, Chinese physicians discovered that Qi circulates throughout the body along 14 major channels.
These channels, or meridians, form a highly complex invisible network transporting and directing Qi to every corner of the body.
