Upon arrival, please check in at the front desk. If you arrive early and your treatment room is not yet available, you will be required to wait outside in the peaceful courtyard that offers both sun and shade, until you are called in by your practitioner.

Acupuncture is a relaxing method of healthcare which involves the placement of very thin needles through the skin at specific points on the body to maintain a natural state of harmony.
Cups are applied to the surface of the body using suction created by heat, which loosens muscles, encourages blood flow, and sedates the nervous system.
After an application of oil or liniment, the skin is scraped with a smooth-edged tool using short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow.
As you enter the suite you'll feel immediately at ease.
Once you've checked in for your appointment at the front desk, you may have a seat in the courtyard or your assigned treatment room, and settle in amid the gentle sounds and subtle aromatherapy.
Take a deep breath and exhale.
You are invited to relax in the comfort and safety of this healing haven.
Though we cannot guarantee quiet, undisturbed time, every time, we strive to provide a delightful atmosphere.
The mission at Santee Acupuncture is to provide the highest quality of routine care using traditional Oriental medicine in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
Your first visit will last an hour, up to 90 minutes.
Please have a light snack beforehand.
You can bring completed intake forms or arrive ten minutes early to fill them out in-office.
Once inside the treatment room, you will have a conversation with your practitioner about your chief complaint, medical history, and lifestyle.
Current prescriptions, lab work, and imaging may be reviewed.
An examination of your tongue and wrist pulses will be performed, along with affected areas of the body, in order to determine a TCM diagnosis.
The theory in Chinese Medicine is that "qi" (pronounced CHEE) runs along pathways, or meridians, in the body.
When qi is blocked or flowing improperly, pain or illness occurs.
Various therapies can help to stimulate the movement of qi thus alleviating pain or dysfunction and restoring health.
Your body is an integrated whole.
Along with your mind, emotions, and spirit, every structure in your body is an integral part of the whole, forming an interrelated system that is powered by life force, or "qi.".
