Early in her practice, Heather Lounsbury, L.Ac., worked with a well-known acupuncturist who traveled with numerous musicians as their physician.
From him she learned the great benefits performers reap both professionally and personally by taking a naturally gifted a physician like Heather, on the road with them.
It was at this time that the seed was first planted in Heather's mind for a company like "Breathe", which is now a successful reality.
Breathe combines the three things she is most passionate about -- total health, travel, and music.
Acupuncture is the placement of disposable, hair-thin needles into specific points along energy channels on the body.
Qi flows within these meridians or pathways.
Stimulating qi flow balances a person to relieve symptoms and eliminate an illness.
Electrical Acupuncture is the attachment of an electrical current to certain points of the body to generate a slight pulsation through the needle into the muscle and meridian pathway.
This eases tense muscles and moves qi and blood in a contained area or within a meridian to reduce pain.
My job and passion is to help others heal themselves.
On my radio program, I give sound, practical advice on how to live a healthier, greener, and more fulfilling life.
My goals are to raise awareness about the impact the environment has on our health, to encourage involvement in social causes, and to help people make educated choices when it comes to health issues.
Pain Management: Physical trauma resulting in pain (most often back, neck and shoulder), muscle issues (spasms, rigidity or flaccidity), sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines/headaches, numbness/tingling of limbs, herniated/slipped discs, can be the result of a recent injury, a condition you've had for years or a combination of the two.
By combining acupuncture and other treatments including exercise, you will hasten recovery time by encouraging muscle flexibility and strength.
In addition, by bringing awareness to the problem area and strengthening the body, future injury and inflammation can be avoided.
Specializing in women's health came very naturally to me.
As a woman, and having many women around me, it became apparent that women have an intense awareness of their bodies.
The fact is our bodies are more complex than a man's.
In addition, there is a list of monthly "ailments" due to the many ways in which we are affected by our menstrual cycle.
The need for both symptom relief and prevention became apparent.
As most of us have come to know, Western medicine treats symptoms and illness after the fact.
