Dry Needling uses thin, sterile, single use needle inserted in to the muscle to try and illicit a local twitch response.
For most people this sounds intimidating, but it usually is quite tolerable.
The patient will feel a light pinch at the beginning, then a little pressure or dullness, and then will feel the muscle twitch or do a quick contraction.
Sometimes we will do some electrical stimulation on the trigger point to further release it and increase your body's systemic anti-inflammatories call cortisol and endorphins for pain relief.
Prolotherapy is a nonsurgical procedure that stimulates and enhances the body's healing process to strengthen and repair injured joints and connective tissue.
Simply put, Protherapy is a treatment used to treat connective tissue injuries like tendons, ligaments that have not healed on their own.
When these connective tissues are stretched or torn, it can destabilize the joint causing pain, laxity and improper moments of the joint.
Similar to dry needling, we also offer trigger point injections.
Traditional Chinese medicine brings to mind acupuncture and the use of natural herbs as healing remedies.
Cupping is a lesser-known treatment that is also part of Oriental medicine, one that can provide an especially pleasant experience.
One of the earliest documentations of cupping can be found in the work titled A Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies, which was written by a Taoist herbalist by the name of Ge Hong and which dates all the way back to 300 AD.
Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small glass cups or in some cases plastic cups are used as suction devices that are placed on the skin.
