Acupuncture has been used as a healing modality for over 3,000 years and is part of a system called Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Chinese medicine takes into consideration the person as a whole and treats the underlying cause, or root, of disease, to increase function and improve vitality.
Acupuncture consists of the precise insertion of extremely fine needles at specific acupuncture points located on the body.
These needles are pre-sterilized, individually packaged and disposed of after each use.
Infertility is defined as the inability to get pregnant after 1 year of trying if you're under 35, and 6 months without success if you're over 35.
Ancient Chinese medical records indicate that treatment of infertility and miscarriage dates back to 200 A.D.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs) treats the underlying imbalance that is the cause of infertility.
Works on the central nervous system by calming down the sympathetic system (stress response) to reduce stress and anxiety and the release of cortisol.
Yes! Prenatal acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to help patients support a healthy pregnancy and uncomplicated delivery.
An Australian study conducted by Adelaide University in 2002 found that acupuncture during pregnancy had no adverse effects and was completely safe when done by a trained acupuncturist.
Another study in 2001 involved 417 pregnant women who received acupuncture for a total of 3,152 treatments and found no maternal or obstetric side effects.
You may have heard that some acupuncture points are forbidden during pregnancy.
I have gone to many acupuncturists over many years and I found Julie to be excellent.
She was exceptionally knowledgeable, caring, and effective in her treatment as well as her prescription of herbs.
She was able to loosen and clear a deep rooted chest infection sparing me from taking antibiotics and steroids.
I would absolutely recommend Julie Allison!
The Chinese Materia Medica (a pharmacological reference book used by TCM practitioners) describes thousands of medicinal substances-primarily plants, but also some minerals and animal products.
