Whether you suffer from chronic pain, are healing from a recent injury, have caught a cold, need help managing the side effects of chemotherapy, or just want to de-stress, Kaz can help you with his unique combination of expertise in Japanese acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, therapeutic bodywork, and herbal medicine-making.
Services
The form of acupuncture you will encounter in a session with Kaz is quite unlike most acupuncture.
Most acupuncturists spend 5-15 minutes with each patient, then insert some needles and leave the room.
Kaz spends an entire hour with you, constantly assessing the state of your muscles, channels, and organs during the treatment and using a needle one point at a time, as necessary.
The entire process is enjoyable and relaxing.
Whereas most acupuncturists insert their needles through the skin and into the muscles, Kaz practices a Japanese style of non-insertion acupuncture.

If you are in pain, or stressed, or ill, there will always be parts of your body that are tight and sensitive.
Even when we are feeling healthy, the movements of daily life - hauling our bodies around, holding our heads up, driving, sitting at a desk or carrying children - can cause muscular tension.
Most of us, even when we are "not doing anything, " hold ourselves in postures that are familiar and comfortable but are actually causing musculoskeletal distortions that end up giving us pain and discomfort.

In addition to acupuncture and bodywork, Kaz sometimes incorporates other therapies into his treatments.
Moxibustion, or moxa, refers to a type of heat therapy in which burning mugwort herb is placed on the body to provide deep penetrating heat.
Scraping, also known as gua sha, is a vigorous technique in which the skin is moistened with oil and then scraped with a tool made out of water buffalo horn, wood, or stone.
Scraping is an excellent therapy for tight painful areas of the back, shoulder, and neck.

While acupuncture and bodywork excel at treating the body's musculoskeletal framework, they address the internal organs only indirectly, via the channel/organ network.
Herbs treat the internal organs and tissues more directly, reaching them via the digestive, circulatory, and various excretory systems (for instance, certain herbal components are recognized by the body as non-food, and in their excretion by the kidneys and bladder can kill microbes causing urinary tract infections).
Therefore, combining acupuncture and bodywork with herbal medicine vastly expands the scope of traditional Chinese medicine beyond the aches and pains that most people think of when they consider acupuncture as a healthcare modality.
