Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine originated nearly 2500 years ago and make up one of the oldest and most widely used healing systems in the world.
The foundational Chinese medical text is the Huang Di Nei Jing or the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, which was composed during the Warring States period (475-221 BC) and is the basis for Classical Chinese Acupuncture.
It is in this early text that ancient physicians give details about how to affect the body's metabolic functions by manipulating it's meridian system, which is like a network of rivers and tributaries that cover the entire body.
Philip Barlow is the founder of North End Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Philip also currently assists in teaching a class on Neijing Studies and Classical Chinese Acupuncture at the Xinglin Institute with Dr. Edward Neal.
Philip earned his Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from the New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest accredited institution in the United States.
He has studied both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture styles, with a strong focus on orthopedic acupuncture, as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine.
All of the Chinese herbal products used in the dispensary are manufactured by companies meeting FDA Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and are compiled and tested in GMP-compliant factories.
North End Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine's internal standard of quality is the GMP certification from the Australian Department of Commerce (TGA), which is considered the most stringent GMP certification.
Furthermore, each distributor is investigated thoroughly, which means our herbs are of consistently high quality.
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine compose a complete medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years, successfully treating a multitude of illnesses.
Philip treats this wide variety of complex health conditions in his private practice.
The following is a list of common conditions, however the list is not exhaustive.
If you do not see your health concern listed please contact the office for a consultation to see how Chinese medicine may address your individual health needs.
Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) is a rapidly growing condition that has become a major health concern in our modern society.
Leaky Gut sounds like a condition that may only affect the digestive system, but in reality it is a disorder that can and does have profound systemic effects resulting in numerous health complaints.
In fact, around 50% of Philip's patients dealing with chronic health issues have Leaky Gut confirmed through laboratory testing.
Leaky Gut Syndrome is a term used to describe a host of disorders that stem from a small intestine that has become overly porous.
