Welcome to Wind in the Willows Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine, your best choice for acupuncture in the West End Village neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist I practice acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is the method of placing very fine sterile needles into specific points on the body.

It is a safe, painless, and very effective way to resolve a wide variety of health concerns. In addition to acupuncture TCM includes several modalities, such as cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na (Medical Massage), moxibustion, and diet and lifestyle recommendations. As a Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist I use a combination of these modalities to create a treatment plan tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

Wind in the Willows Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine was formed in 2013 and the name came out of my love for willow trees and all their majesty. They are symbolic of rebirth, healing, and transformation.
Services
We are excited to introduce Wind in the Willows' newest acupuncturist: Dr. Corinne Brown, L.Ac.
Dr. Brown studied Chinese medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC.
She found Chinese medicine while in college for her undergraduate degree in Richmond, VA.
Struggling with both anxiety and depression, she found it very hard to continue to stay on track in school.
Knowing her mother had experienced life changing results with acupuncture and herbal medicine, she decided to start getting acupuncture herself.
Michelle is a rock star in the world of acupuncture.
She is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and the quality and quantity of attention that you get for your time and money is second to none.
I highly recommend her.
Some common plans that cover acupuncture are UPMC, Blue cross Blue Shield Federal, Optum for Veterans, Western Pennsylvania Electrical Employees, etc.
Other plans may cover as well.
Practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese medicine have used this noninvasive treatment method to help millions of people become well and stay well.
Acupuncture promotes natural healing.
It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function and well-being.
It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.
At the core of this ancient medicine is the philosophy that Qi (pronounced "chee"), or vital energy, flows throughout the body.
Acupuncture has been employed as a health care modality for over 5,000 years.
Modern science has begun to understand the secrets of this ancient medicine with the support of new studies conducted by leading scientists, hospitals and medical research facilities from all over the world.
Today, acupuncture is receiving wide acceptance as a respected, valid and effective form of health care.
In a systematic review published by Spine Journal, acupuncture has been shown to have significantly favorable effects on chronic low back pain.
Gathering this information enables the practitioner to effectively diagnose and detect any specific imbalances of Qi that may have contributed to a persons health problems.
The practitioner can then create a well-structured treatment plan.
Once the imbalances of Qi are detected, an acupuncturist will place fine, sterile needles at specific acupoints along meridian pathways.
This safe and painless insertion of the needles can unblock the obstruction and balance Qi where it has become unbalanced.
