White Crane Healing Arts Center
Due to the present circumstances, we have put the Saturday Qigong (Opening the Energy Gates) class online. Each day in this environment brings renewed inspiration. With most of the hard labor behind, we are now focusing on a vegetable garden, new classes, making new friends and becoming familiar with the resources in this area. I love walking on my property and discovering new plants, flowers, trees budding and little areas to create for meditation.

For us, the mountains are a magical and spiritually grounding place. We look forward to sharing our experience on all levels with students, friends and family. We hope you can visit soon! The teachings of the TAO originated in prehistoric times, within the area of China, deep in the pristine forest and mountains where the natural flow of energy was whole, balanced and undisturbed.

In this environment nature and man evolved as an integral part of the whole macrocosm. The subtle law contained in Nature was discovered to be the truth of our own being.
Services
We had a dream of a healing center that was a refuge from worldly confusion.
In 1988, there was an opportunity to hear Taoist Master Ni, Hua Ching speak at a Unitarian church.
We were inspired to expand our understanding through workshops, qigong movement practices and reading books authored by Master Ni and other spiritual classics.
In 1989 Frank taught a single Tai Chi class at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove and we held study groups and meetings in our tiny home which we fondly referred to as The Bonsai Center.
The Chinese, like many other ancient cultures identified the living energetic aspects of our being.
The Chinese called the energy system that runs close to the surface of the body and has an outward to inward flow, meridians.
There are also right, left and central channels which are located below the surface and have an inward to outward flow.
These energy pathways feed into and connect to the organ systems to create health when they are open and flowing.
When compromised or congested, they reflect pathological organ disturbances.
The use of herbs in China dates back thousands of years and there is an extensive materia medica that has been compiled over the centuries.
Chinese Herbal Therapy is used to supplement and direct the body's own healing energy to improve its physiological functions.
Herbs can enhance the efficiency of digestion, metabolism and circulation.
This helps to balance the vital functions of the body and to create a healthy and harmonious internal environment.
Chinese Herbs can be purchased in whole, powder or liquid extract form, and also in patent (over the counter) remedies that come in capsules or pill form.
Eastern and Western nutritional approaches are combined to educate individuals from all vantage points.
Guidance includes helping the client to understand the body's nutrient needs, nutrient content in foods, the energetic influence of food and personal energy balance.
Practical application includes learning how to stock your pantry and how to make the best choices whether preparing meals at home or eating out.
Clients are always encouraged to follow up with questions, comments and observations.
Many ancient cultures have had a concept of energy which goes by different names, (Ki, prana, pnema, etc.).
In the Taoist tradition it is known as Qi.
Qi is life force in the most simplistic terms a combination of consciousness, information and energy.
This is the energy that creates, sustains and protects our physical body, consciousness and spirit.
Qigong means "energy work".
It is the practice of learning to control your life force using your breath, mind and movement.
These practices have an internal and external aspect.
