While practicing acupuncture in New York City for six years, she successfully treated many women for hormonal issues, including infertility, postpartum recovery, weight gain and acne, as well as digestive disorders, anxiety, insomnia, body pain and depression.

She holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Manhattan, and earned a certification in craniosacral therapy from Dr. Ron Wish of Nyack, New York, learning to listen and respond to the body's energy.
She worked for three years under Shellie Goldstein, an innovative cosmetic acupuncturist in Manhattan. In 2016, Joey and her family moved to the Skokie-Evanston area, where she practices out of her home office. She also offers home visits.
