Acupuncture stimulates the release of the body's own powerful painkillers (endorphins) and anti-inflammatories to be released during treatment and for sometime afterward causing an immediate reduction in pain levels. Chinese Medicine has a history of successfully treating infertility for more than 2,000 years. Windward Acupuncture combines Eastern and Western medicine, like acupuncture and In-Vitro Fertilization, to help increase chances of conception and carrying a pregnancy to full term.
Acupuncture helps to awaken nerves and restore function to the body following a stroke.

These goals will guide our treatment plan and give us a clear direction.

I will also observe your tongue and feel your pulse on both wrists to get an idea of your current state of health according to Chinese medicine.

The first is the Acute Care phase when most symptoms are addressed and resolved.
Treatments are scheduled 2-3 times per week to obtain the quickest and most dramatic changes.
Next is the Maintenance Care phase when we continue to maintain the progress we have achieved in the Acute Care phase and support the body as we continue to challenge it.
Treatments are tapered down to once a week, once every other week and so on until we have determined the ideal length of time between treatments while still maintaining the results.

Acupuncture can treat a wide variety of causes of back pain.
Bulging discs, strained muscles, back spasms, nerve inflammation, can all benefit from acupuncture and/or Chinese herbs.
Often times treatment of the back involves both acupuncture and cupping to strongly circulate the blood and relax the muscles.
Self-care in the form of hand acupressure may be given to help extend the results of treatment and provide the patient with tools to manage their pain on their own.
In Chinese medicine the strength of the back is related to the kidneys which are weakened by overwork, too much sex, inactivity, and a poor diet.
