Acupuncture is a medical art which originated in China over three thousand years ago. This art is one branch of traditional Chinese medicine which includes herbal medicine, dietary therapy, therapeutic massage (tui na), and therapeutic exercise (qi gong). Acupuncture promotes healing and restores balance in patients through the insertion of specially designed needles into specific points on the body.

Complimentary techniques can be used to support this treatment through the application of heat, moxibustion, cupping, or electrotherapy. Acupuncture is a medicine which is appropriate for virtually any patient, young and old. This medicine is valuable in the treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, musculoskeletal injuries, reproductive health, substance abuse challenges, and emotional difficulties.

Perhaps most importantly, acupuncture is an excellent method of preventative care, helping you to better attain and maintain a high level of health and wellness. Matt Nilsen-Remedios is a nationally-certified NCCAOM diplomate and licensed acupuncturist in the state of New Jersey.
