I've been there. My name is Becky Thoroughgood and I am a nationally-certified, licensed acupuncturist in Harrisburg, PA. Since 2003, I have been privileged to assist people, perhaps much like you, to experience relief from physical ailments and to become more emotionally balanced. We all have the capacity to heal.

Whether you suffer from physical pain, a chronic health condition, stress, or the feeling that you are not living life to the fullest, Chinese medicine can address your core health issues by helping to balance your energy for a more lasting, natural healing.I have been receiving acupuncture treatments for approximately 4 years. I initially began treatment for a skin issue that I had not been able to receive relief for with tradition medicine.

Having a background in healthcare I was skeptical about alternative medicine but had exhausted all treatment options. If you would like to receive my monthly e-newsletter about improving your health and living life more fully.

When I was in my 30s, I was stressed out, not sleeping, tired all the time and chronically ill with sinus infections.
I decided to try acupuncture.
I wanted something more holistic and lasting than the caffeine and medications I was using to get through my days.
After a few acupuncture treatments, my immune system and energy level started to perk up.
But something even more amazing happened.
I felt more vitally alive, less blocked and clearer.
I wanted to help other people experience the same.
So, I enrolled in a Master's Degree in Acupuncture at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now Maryland University of Integrative Health).
From a Chinese medicine perspective, energy circulates throughout the body in pathways, called meridians.
When our flow of energy is blocked, our health suffers, and pain or illness occurs.
Consider the image of a garden hose.
If the hose is kinked, the water backs up.
The same happens to us.
Stress, physical trauma, poor diet, chronic illness, emotional issues, and environmental toxins block the flow of our qi (energy).
Acupuncture restores the proper movement of our qi and addresses such chronic health conditions as: sleep disorders, muscle or joint pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, infertility, allergies, digestive complaints, stress and more.

Not only did acupuncture provide me with relief for my skin ailments but it relieved many other bothersome symptoms.
I feel more centered and relaxed after my treatments.
For me, it is an investment in my over all health and wellbeing.
We all have vital energy, called qi (pronounced chee), that guides our growth, development, and movement, and protects us against disease.
When our qi is blocked, we experience pain and illness, or suffer emotionally.
Acupuncture treats these imbalances with the use of sterile, thread-thin needles that are inserted just below the skin's surface into specific energy points.
Most patients feel a momentary sensation or dull pressure when the needle is first inserted.
Most notable is that patients feel profoundly relaxed during and after the treatment.
