My given name is Kristen Conner, but I much prefer to be called by my old nickname, "tank". In Living Tree I have endeavored to create the sort of safe, clean, comfortable, and unhurried experience that I would like to have as a patient but all too often find lacking in medical settings. I have an intimate relationship with injury and chronic pain due to a genetic collagen disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Hypermobility Type.

I came to my studies in massage therapy, acupuncture, and medical qigong because the standard offerings of NSAIDs, narcotics, and cortisone injections frequently caused more problems for me than they resolved.

Just as my background as a massage therapist greatly informs my knowledge of the body and how I approach it through acupuncture, my extensive and ongoing experiences as a patient within the medical establishment continue to shape the ways in which I relate to my patients and inspire me to simply be better in every aspect of the care that I provide.

In April and May of 2019 I completed my certification in Medical Qigong (CMQ) and my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine (DAIM) and also published my first book, It's Raining Zebras: An Acupuncturist's Guide for the Better Recognition and Treatment of Individuals with Hypermobile Type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Services
When you schedule your first appointment, I will ask if you would like to fill out your intake paperwork in the office or at home.
If you would prefer to do it at home, I will ask for an email address to which I will send a link to a PDF that you may fill out and print (if you have that software) or print and fill out by hand.
You will bring the filled out packet with you to your appointment.
Patients are asked to refrain from wearing perfume and other fragrances during appointments, for my benefit and for that of patients seen after them.
In April of 2019 I passed two big milestones by completing both my medical qigong certification (CMQ) and doctorate of acupuncture and integrative medicine (DAIM).
In May of 2019 I then published my doctoral thesis as a small handbook to help acupuncturists and other health professionals better recognize and treat individuals with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), a vastly under-diagnosed genetic connective tissue disorder that I have.
Becoming an author has been quite a journey, and I'm excited that I now get to release this work out into the wild so that it can start making a difference.
When my longtime Directional Non-Force Technique (DNFT) chiropractor, Dr. David Doan, retired early due to the pandemic, I found myself in a real bind as there just aren't many DNFT practitioners around and all other forms of chiropractic care I have ever tried have injured me.
Enter Dr. Martin Borge.
It's a schlep to get to him, and I really need to time it between traffic peaks, but it's been worth it for me.
My experiences with Polaris continue to be some of the best time and money I've ever spent on my mental health care.
