An estimated 11.2% of the US adult population experience chronic pain (1), of which the 5 common pain conditions seen by primary care physicians are back pain, osteoarthritis, neck pain, severe headaches and migraines, and fibromyalgia.
In the past, primary care physicians used medication and other therapies to alleviate the patient's pain, including opioid therapy such as OxyContin and Percocet.
