The purpose of Oakland Acupuncture Project is to make Chinese Medicine accessible by providing affordable community-centered health care. All acupuncture treatments are individualized to meet your needs, and are performed in a quiet community space. You decide what you can afford. We will NEVER make you prove your income level. We want you to come often enough to really get better, and the sliding scale is our way of helping you make that commitment.

I came across acupuncture while traveling in Thailand early in 2005.
The effects of my treatments were so miraculous and profound that by the time I returned to the United States, I had decided to become an acupuncturist.
All these years later, I feel very lucky to be able to offer the benefits of acupuncture to my local Oakland community.
When I'm not at work, I'm usually hanging out with my daughter and my son who are both super fun.
You might see us smelling flowers or chasing turkeys in the Morcom Rose Garden.

Most United States acupuncturists treat patients on tables in individual cubicles.
This is not traditional in Asia, where acupuncture usually occurs in a community setting.
In our clinic we primarily use recliners in our quiet, soothing common room.
Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it's easy for friends and family members to come in for treatment together; many patients find it comforting; and the collective energy of many treatments happening at once actually makes individual treatments more powerful.

We do all our treatments using distal points: elbows and knees down, ears, and scalp.
We find this is a very effective way of treating many conditions.
Rolling up sleeves/pants to elbows and knees is more fitting and comfortable for community acupuncture environment.
With the use of the right pillows and blankets, we find that we can get most people comfortable in our chairs.
Doing treatments on the floor is not an option.
For follow up treatments, we talk for a short amount of time, in hushed voices, in our open group treatment room.
