I am a native New Yorker, who moved to Los Angeles in 1987 and have been interested in alternative therapies all my life, studying foot reflexology, acupressure, homeopathy, and eating with the seasons. In 1992, the State of California granted my Certification and License in Acupuncture and Traditional Oriental Medicine. My treatment plan is finding the right balance for you and teaching wellness.

My practice involves proceeding together with you to find a sense of balance and movement in your life, your body, moods, thoughts, and awareness. In addition to treatments, you will be given self-care techniques through either video links or handouts. The styles of acupuncture I use are varied and gentle, including Japanese, Classical Chinese, Korean Hand, Traditional Chinese, and European Auricular.

The needles are pre-packaged, sterile, and disposable. Tools: acupuncture, acupressure, cupping, eating with the seasons, electro-acupuncture, gemstone therapies, hand yoga [mudras], movement therapies, moxibustion [heat treatment], sound therapies [tuning forks and Tibetan Bowls], and using food to balance your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
Services
The first session is comprehensive: consultation reviewing your medical history, exam, and treatment.
This takes between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the length and severity of your condition.
A sliding-scale pricing is available for those in need; applies only to "at-time-of-service" fees.
In the treatment of pain, you should see some difference immediately.
How long that relief will last will depend on the length and severity of the problem.
During the course of your treatments, you will also notice that you are starting to stand differently, or that your body sensations or moods are less extreme, and that your awareness of your body is changing.
Acupuncture is based on the concept of balancing the "energy/Qi" that moves through the body and regulates the various bodily functions.
This energy is mapped by a system of what we call meridians or channels, each meridian governing a different body-function system, such as respiration, digestion, hormones, and circulation.
Although you cannot see these meridians, you can feel them when you massage up or down a channel.
It is usually painful, especially if there is a blockage in that meridian.
Acupuncture has been a consistent tool to help maintain my health, manage my stress levels and provide a quiet time each month to focus on the positive.
Elen is skilled in her ability to listen and design the treatment best suited for the day.
I always recommend acupuncture when friends are looking for a way to be proactive on health issues.
For two years now I have been seeing Elen as she assisted me in working past several sports related injuries.
From worn out ankles, to sprained thumbs, to pulled muscles in my shoulder.
In this section, we start with the symptoms that most express the imbalance in each season.
In each season there is a certain style of energy, the way it moves, the way it affects us.
These phases or styles of energy are what feed the acupuncture meridians, and eventually the organs.
When that style of energy is allowed to express itself in a positive manner, health is achieved and maintained.
When that energy is blocked, distorted, or thwarted in some way, the meridians cannot support their organ functions, and so specific symptoms start to manifest.
Physical Symptoms: When the fire burns too brightly our minds and hearts are restless with anxiety, our heart beats out of rhythm.
The blood cannot flow freely and begins to clog the vessels that hold it.
So irregular heartbeat, poor circulation, palpitations, chest pains, Restless Leg Syndrome, and insomnia.
Because of the connection between the heart and small intestine, malabsorption issues may also arise.
The fire energy here is about optimism, heart, and enthusiasm.
A fire can burn brightly and quickly, consuming everything, as in a firestorm.
