My intention is to create a healing partnership with you. I listen to your concerns and share my observations with you in a caring, confidential environment. Through this dialogue, we create a plan for your acupuncture treatment and for the steps you can take to assist in your recovery of health and wholeness. Traditional acupuncture is a medical system which views the human body as a microcosm of the natural world.

Each of us reflects nature's rhythmical cycles. In health, we flow with ease through nature's changes and through the changes in our lives. When illness, pain or a sense of unease arises, acupuncture gently moves us back in the direction of harmony with nature's rhythms. If you are interested in acupuncture treatment, please contact me at the number or email below.

As a retired MD, I was not very familiar with acupuncture, but Anne's friendly professionalism put us at ease. We are grateful - it worked. When I became pregnant, acupuncture proved a wonderful help with the physical discomforts of pregnancy and with my tendency toward anxiety.
Services
The style of acupuncture I practice is a blend of Five Element and Eight Principle theory.
I balance theory with the information you tell me about yourself and which I gather through observation and physical diagnosis.
Often, as I listen to your history and observe your physical and emotional patterns, I can help you find a path toward healing with possibilities beyond your initial expectations.
I will work with you to reach your goals for health in all areas of your concern.
I use additional methods of stimulating the acupuncture points (moxabustion, cupping, gua sha, and acupressure), dietary analysis and craniosacral therapy when appropriate.
I have a Master's Degree in Acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, now called the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH).
Founded in 1975, MUIH is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Schools and Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
I entered MUIH with the class of 1997 and began my acupuncture practice in 2000.
I have taught acupuncture point location and eastern theory.
I am licensed to practice acupuncture by the Virginia Board of Medicine (License #0121000161.)
If you are interested in working together, please contact me at (434) 825-4181 or at asmucker@cvilleacupuncture.com.
When I first met Anne, I had struggled with infertility for three years and was undergoing conventional fertility treatments.
I was very moved by Anne's compassion and sincere interest in my overall wellness.
She intervened on many levels - with acupuncture, mindfulness, and serenity.
In addition, she evaluated my nutritional status more than anyone had ever done, introduced me to new foods to promote fertility, and provided me with very specific, practical pointers for making simple changes to my diet.
Acupuncture is a complete healthcare system with a wide range of benefits.
With its origins in China, acupuncture is gaining recognition as an important complement to western medicine.
The World Health Organization states that acupuncture is of benefit with 40 different types of disease.
The National Institutes of Health has endorsed acupuncture as an effective and safe form of therapy.
Acupuncture uses very fine, sterile needles and moxibustion (a warming process) to stimulate the body's self-healing power.
