TVA believes that everybody deserves a chance to experience optimal health, independent of financial means. TVA is providing acupuncture treatments in a cost effective and supportive group setting, as well as traditional one-on-one treatments in the Brewster clinic. Please consider TVA for any acute or chronic pain, emotional imbalances, PMS, migraine headaches, sports injuries, as support in any challenging life situations, stress relief, digestive aid - as a few examples of what acupuncture can treat.

The one-on-one treatments often include cupping, shiatsu, reiki healing and/or the use of TDP lamp in adjunct to the acupuncture. The Community Clinic treatments may include any of the before mentioned add-ons in adjunct to the acupuncture.

Ellika Shilling is a Nationally Board Certified and New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Reiki Healer.
Ellika earned a master level degree in Oriental Medicine from Southeastern Institute of Oriental Medicine in Miami, 2003.
She practiced in the Fort Lauderdale area until she moved to Brewster and has been in practice in Brewster since 2006.
She is passionate about bringing acupuncture healing to as many people as possible.
She created The Village Acupuncturist's Community Clinic and Putnam County Veterans Acupuncture Clinic to carry out that mission.
Acupuncture started as a folk medicine in China about 4000 years ago and reached Europe and USA in the 1970's.
Acupuncture refers to the holistic healing art in which thin, flexible and disposable needles are inserted to specific points on the body.
These points are connected by a network of channels where the body's energy (qi) is flowing.
The even flow of a healthy amount of energy is needed to assure optimal health in a person.
The acupuncturist can interact with the energy flow by choosing the appropriate acupuncture points and inserting needles in to them.
Community acupuncture consists of a group of people receiving acupuncture treatments at the same time in a room.
TVA uses comfortable zero gravity chairs, the client wears loose clothing so the acupuncturist can treat points from the knee and down, also from the elbow and down, on shoulders, neck and scalp area.
The first time patient often wonders how it feels to sit and relax, possibly fall asleep, in a room with strangers.
All doubts typically disappears after the first treatment.
Experiencing the shared energy in the room where other people are getting treated is powerful.
The reiki practitioner functions as a channel for healing energy and by placing the hands on different parts of the client's body directs the energy there.
The client can often experience a sensation of soothing heat radiating from the practitioner's hands.
A reiki treatment is very relaxing and stress relieving, and that alone goes a long way for general health and well-being.
The treatment is performed with the client fully dressed, typically laying on a massage table.
By the nature of reiki and since she has the training, Ellika integrates reiki healing in all the acupuncture treatments, both in the community clinic and in one-on-one treatments.
The Veterans Clinic never got wind in the sails and we could not for some reason reach the men and women that so desperately need help digesting their experiences.
Instead, if you are a veteran or first responder that wants to try ear acupuncture, please let me know - I will be happy to treat you during my clinic hours on Mondays or Thursdays.
PCVAC, a new initiative to promote support for Veterans, First Responders and their spouses.
The mission of Putnam County Veterans Acupuncture Clinic is to provide free acupuncture treatments to Veterans, First Responders and their spouses in the Putnam area.
