Diane Jones, Licensed Acupuncturist, has been using acupuncture to promote overall health and wellness for 25 years. In 2005, Diane founded The Acupuncture and Wellness Center. Acupuncture is one of the oldest continuously practiced medical systems in the world. For several thousand years, it has been part of a constantly evolving and cohesive health care system, a system that includes not only acupuncture, but also herbs, proper nutrition, exercise, meditation and therapeutic massage.

Acupuncture itself involves several modalities, most famously the insertion of hair-thin needles along meridian pathways to promote the body's incredible self-healing abilities. Acupuncture is safe, effective, and chemical-free. It treats pain, disease, mood imbalances, increases fertility and boosts the immune system.
Services
Thousands of years ago, East Asian practitioners discovered that the body develops disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life.
No matter which Chinese medical modality is being used (acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, qi gong, etc.), all are based on the same fundamental theories.
Chinese medical theory views poor health as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang, which permits internal diseases to develop, and allows external pathogens, what we now call viruses and bacteria, to invade.
Chinese herbs are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effect.
While many cultures have herbal medicine traditions, the sophistication of Chinese herbal medicine is unsurpassed.
Chinese herbal medicine has a long history reaching back several thousand years, and the resulting system is now used to treat everything from the common cold to certain types of cancer.
There are thousands of herbs in the Chinese materia medica, of which about 300 are commonly used.
You will generally receive a mixture of several different herbs in a formula that has been tailored to your condition.
Moxibustion is so old that it predates the use of needles for acupuncture.
It has been found in tombs that are 5,000 years old.
Moxa, a word derived from the Japanese term "mogusa", is a wool-like plant material made from dried and rubbed mugwort leaves.
In this photograph, you see moxa that has been wrapped around the metal handle of an acupuncture needle.
When lit, it smolders like a coal, heating the needle to its tip, sending heat deep inside.
Moxibustion is extremely comfortable.
It warms the body, rids damp, and stimulates the smooth flow of qi and blood.
Combine the cumin, coriander, turmeric and salt together and gently saute with 1 tbs ghee.
Note: The more ill the person, the more water and cooking time is necessary, as well as serving it at thick, warm, soupy consistency.
Kitcharee is a staple of Ayruvedic health care.
It balances all doshas and assists the body to overcome all diseases.
Those who use kitcharee often use it for cleansing by consuming kitcharee exclusively for three or more days.
People knowledgeable about the requirements of fasting have made kitcharee their exclusive food intake for 42 days along with herbal formulas and harmonious health promoting movement.
With his ageless axiom "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine, your food, " Hippocrates, regarded as 'the father of medicine" might as well be referring to kichari.
This delicious mainstay of Indian cuisine consists of split yellow mung beans called dahl, and white basmati rice cooked together with ghee (clarified butter) and mild spices.
In fact, kichadi may well be the most perfect therapeutic recipe of all because it detoxifies the entire system, while kindling the body's digestive fires called 'agni.' Unlike other fasts or restricted diets, following an exclusive diet of kichadi with the addition of some steamed seasonal vegetables and fresh fruits and perhaps a few tablespoons of yogurt mid-day, supplies all the bodies' nutritional needs and will cause no nutritional deficiencies.
