Those suffering from hypertension, or high blood pressure, are at risk for a host of other health issues including suffering a stroke or heart attack. And for some people, the prescription drugs used to treat high blood pressure either aren't effective enough or bring on undesirable side effects.

According to the American Sleep Association (ASA), approximately 50-70 million Americans suffer from some type of sleep disorder. The ASA reports that insomnia is the most common specific sleep disorder, with short term issues reported by about 30% of adults and chronic insomnia by 10%. Acupuncture is one of three branches of ancient traditional medicine.

The other two are herbal medicine and the practice of a physical and mental discipline called Qi Gong. The main objective of each branch is to bring about a harmonious flow of Chi.

Acupuncture promotes natural healing.
It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function and well-being.
It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.
At the core of this ancient medicine is the philosophy that Qi (pronounced "chee"), or vital energy, flows throughout the body.
According to Chinese medical theory, the symptoms and signs that indicate a Western diagnosis of allergies relate to imbalances in the meridian and Organ Systems of the body.
These imbalances may stem from a variety of causes, including stress, poor diet, constitutional weakness, pollutants and environmental toxins.
Over time, if imbalances remain within the body, they will affect the functions of the Organ Systems.
Some of these Organ Systems are involved in the production of Wei Qi (pronounced "way chee").
Acupuncture has been employed as a health care modality for over 5,000 years.
Modern science has begun to understand the secrets of this ancient medicine with the support of new studies conducted by leading scientists, hospitals and medical research facilities from all over the world.
Today, acupuncture is receiving wide acceptance as a respected, valid and effective form of health care.
In a systematic review published by Spine Journal, acupuncture has been shown to have significantly favorable effects on chronic low back pain.
Gathering this information enables the practitioner to effectively diagnose and detect any specific imbalances of Qi that may have contributed to a persons health problems.
The practitioner can then create a well-structured treatment plan.
Once the imbalances of Qi are detected, an acupuncturist will place fine, sterile needles at specific acupoints along meridian pathways.
This safe and painless insertion of the needles can unblock the obstruction and balance Qi where it has become unbalanced.
