NGAOM members are part of the 12 million dues paying union member AFL-CIO family. Our family includes NFL players, all of whom are part of the NFLPA, the NFL Players Association, who have given us their endorsement. The AFL-CIO union family is comprised of 50 million members, retired members, and family members in all 50 states. The AFL-CIO itself has given us their full endorsement.
We encourage every dues paying NGAOM member to reach out to their local labor councils (ask us how) to unions and union members across the country for priority in providing their healthcare. Licensed Acupuncturists who are not NGAOM union members do not have the support of union members who prioritize union members for their medical services. Support H.R. 1182 and H.R. 1183 Proposals to Ensure Acupuncture Treatments for Seniors and Veterans Covered by Medicare.
The American Alliance of Acupuncture (AAOA), the union for acupuncture professions, is promoting federal acupuncture insurance bills for veterans, heroes, and seniors by supporting H.R. 1182 and H.R. 1183, which were proposed by California Congresswoman Judy Chu.

The combined strength of the 11.2 million members of the AFL-CIO has given groups of professionals like us legislative and bargaining power vastly disproportionate to our numbers.
The Guild was formed in June of 2000 and joined OPEIU and through them the AFL-CIO.
Our participation occurred after a Supreme Court ruling upheld the right of medical professionals to organize for concerted political action through affiliation with entities like the AFL-CIO.
That makes us "pound for pound" far and away the strongest legislative fighters in the acupuncture field and a formidable opponent of those who would undermine or usurp the advancement of our profession.
