Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that can be used alone or in conjunction with other medical systems. It has developed out of a long, well documented history that is continuously evolving through research and modern clinical experience. TCM uses five main modalities including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese medical massage known as 'tui na', eastern dietary therapy, and moxibustion.

By integrating these five therapeutic modalities, you will receive a specific treatment catered to your individual needs. A treatment strategy will be created for you based on condition, chronicity, and constitution. TCM theory is based on the premise that imbalances and blockages in the body are contributing factor to disease. A holistic approach by simultaneously promoting well-being and relieving the chief complaint is our primary goal to facilitate a path to healing.

If a substantial amount of people are exposed to the same common cold pathogen, why do only some of them get sick and why does the cold manifest differently for each person?

We recommend that you complete our initial paperwork via the patient portal before coming to your first appointment.
If you have trouble logging on, please call us at 518-569-6275.
The first treatment will take about 90 minutes.
In this time, we will do a detailed intake and assessment of both your condition and constitution.
Don't be surprised if we ask you questions that seem unrelated to your chief complaint - these questions are meant to get the full picture of how your body functions.
After we conduct the intake, we will examine your pulse and tongue.
Services are provided and billed by Avenue Acupuncture.
Payment is due at the time of service.
Currently, Avenue Acupuncture does not accept insurance.
If you have acupuncture coverage through your insurance policy, we would be happy to provide you with a super bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
It is important to first call your insurance company to see if your policy covers acupuncture.
Be mindful that not all insurance companies cover a full course of acupuncture treatments and may have stipulations for the conditions covered.
TCM has been around for over 2,500 years and is considered the oldest practiced medical system on the face of the earth.
In New York state, you do not need a referral from a doctor to come to Acupuncture!
However, by law, we do not take the place of your medical doctor and we advise that you seek a medical doctor for the conditions for which you are seeking us.
Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet to wellness.
In order to maximize treatments, diet and lifestyle changes are necessary for a potential "cure."
I once had a patient report extreme diarrhea.
After we went through her diet she suggested it was the lemon water she just started drinking.
I would have sooner credited it to her overindulgence of simple carbs, dairy, high sugar and high fat foods, that she had reported sensitivity to in her initial intake.
She was insistent - it was the lemon water.
That's so odd you might think, how did she not know it was actually the overindulgences?
In Acupuncture school, I had a professor that would laugh at the ailments brought to her when they were self induced.
