Acupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine that has been around for thousands of years. The purpose of acupuncture is to bring the body back to homeostasis (regulation of body). Acupuncture clears the body of toxic ailments, relax the body and promote emotional well-being. All these wonderful benefits of acupuncture are generated by inserting hair-thin needles into specific points to activate meridians in your body.

Once the meridians are activated the body will naturally heal itself. Balancing emotions also plays a big role in acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture will regulate your mood, reduce stress and anxiety by slowing down the production of stress hormones and balancing the bodies natural neurochemicals, such as serotonin and dopamine. Other physiological effects observed through the body include: increased circulation, decreased inflammation and an increase in T-cell count, in which stimulates the immune system.

Cupping is a technique I use to promote blood flow and move chi. It revs up the lymphatic system, therefore clears toxins and waste products in the body.
Services
Acupuncture is the application of a thin stainless steel needle inserted into various points on the surface of the body.
Acupuncture points lay on meridian lines of our body which are unseen energy channels.
Meridians are similar to the pathways of the circulatory or nervous systems.
There are 14 meridians in our body they are conduits responsible for the transit of life energy called "CHI."
This life force energy runs through various channels from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet.
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when a sports injury will happen.
Athletes at all levels of training and competition, unfortunately, get hurt.
As an extreme athlete, Maya Martinez understands the intricacies of helping athletes recover faster with Acupuncture.

Giving her a unique understanding of both an Eastern and Western approach to recovery.
Acupuncture allows athletes to recover at a much faster rate than traditional western medicine.
I use glass cups in which I place a burning cotton ball, to produce a partial vacuum.
Once the flame is out I place the cup upside down onto the skin so suction can occur.
Once the treatment begins the patient will feel subjective sensations.
Some descriptions of what patients feel include Tingling, Warmth, Pulling, Grounding and Relaxing Sensations.
Once I was presented with a creative description, it came from one of my pediatric patients describing cupping as an octopus sucking up with its tentacles.
Moxa or Moxibustion will increase blood flow and assist the lymphatic system to move and eliminate unwanted waste products.
The increase in blood flow also assists the body to heal faster and relax the muscles and tissues.
The heat emanated is helpful for those who suffer from lack of circulation and arthritis.
The patients that benefit most from moxibustion are those who notice the pain is worse with cold or damp-cold environments.
I have found patients with knee pain, shoulder, ankle, and other joint pains benefit from this therapy.
