Thuy Nguyen is founder and director of Berkeley Community Acupuncture.
She received her Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in the year 2000 and has been evolving her practice and understanding of health, medicine and community ever since.
Thuy's style of practice can be characterized by powerful simplicity and clarity-her ability to see to the heart of the problem and to hold the space necessary for healing to emerge.
Aside from (or perhaps because of) her committed work to healing, she is often recognized by her joyful laughter, her 3 beautifully devilish children, her playful wardrobe, her whimsical creative obsessions, and her passion for all things magical.
Acupuncture and traditional medicine can support your general health and wellness, as well as treat a myriad of ailments including, but not limited to, pain, digestive imbalance, anxiety, menstrual cramps, stress, depression, insomnia, infertility, and allergies.
Acupuncture treats a wide variety of illness and imbalance gently and effectively.
The list of ailments that Chinese Medicine can treat is long and varied.
A few of the more common symptoms that it successfully addresses are: pain (both chronic and acute), nausea and other gastrointestinal conditions, hormonal and gynecological issues, addiction, as well as symptoms associated with stress such as fatigue and anxiety.
Whether you're new to acupuncture, Chinese medicine, or this is simply your first visit to BCA, we look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your health journey.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing so that practitioners have easy access to your limbs (from the knees and elbows down).
Allow yourself about an hour and fifteen minutes to be at the clinic for your first visit, and try to give yourself a couple hours of relaxing activity after your treatment.
If you are interested in a more comprehensive acupuncture intake, you'll want to add 30 minutes onto that.
Reducing your stress is actually one of the best ways you can deal with this crisis.
Accompanied by some deep, cleansing breaths, these chair yoga poses can help calm the body and mind while easing muscle tension.
Bone meditation: one of my favorite ways to find myself and return to center when I feel wobbly, or stressed, or lacking clarity.
More videos to come and I am excited to be opening up a couple hours each day to support people one-on-one.
Wishing everyone wellness and safety!
Updated community room: we've reduced # of recliners so recliners are at least 6 feet apart.
Masks must be worn at all times by staff and patients, and must cover both nose and mouth.
Minimize talking: tell us your needs when you book.
If you have a condition or question that you want to discuss at length, please book a telehealing consultation instead.
Make an appointment: please call us to make sure we have a space for you if you need a same-day appointment.
