For over 5,000 years, the science of acupuncture has used the body's own wisdom to naturally and comprehensively heal even the most intractable illnesses. Gentle, and compassionate in nature, acupuncture nurtures the steady flow of qi (pronounced chee) or "life energy" through the body's twenty meridians (twelve standard and eight extraordinary). It can be helpful to think of these meridians as intricate networks of canals, and the qi as precious cargo that must reach ports far and wide.

When healthy, the body distributes an abundant supply of qi through its networks. However, any number of environmental and lifestyle stressors (e.g., pathogens, poor diet, overwork, emotional trauma, or physical injury) can disrupt flow by either decreasing the supply of qi or clogging channels. Congestion at any part of the pathway impedes qi from reaching its destination, leaving vital organs undernourished, systems imbalanced, and the body susceptible to disease and discomfort.

Our goal is to make your visit as relaxing and healing as possible.
Services
Chinese acupuncture is part of an ancient, integrated system of healthcare that dates back 5,000 years.
This system includes a number of services that help us attack the cause of your problem and improve the effectiveness of acupuncture.
We use acupuncture to treat dozens of conditions, but we also recommend acupuncture as part of an ongoing wellness program to proactively prevent pain and disease.
Acupuncture is based on the premise that energy, or chi, flows through meridians, or pathways, in the human body.
Our goal is to make your visit as relaxing and healing as possible.
Ideally, you will leave your acupuncture appointment feeling rested and refreshed, the way you would following a massage or other spa treatment.
To enhance the relaxation benefits of acupuncture, it's helpful to avoid scheduling an appointment directly before or after strenuous or stressful activities.
In advance of your treatment, prepare your body for relaxation.
Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing.
Commonly used acupuncture points tend to be located between the wrists and elbows and the ankles and knees, so it's helpful to wear clothing that can be comfortably rolled up to your elbows and knees.
In very ancient times Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners used specific foods to balance the body's yin and yang and to treat disease.
The ancient Chinese medicine practitioners discovered that most foods have either cooling or warming characteristics.
When you eat cooling foods, they are adding cooling effects to your body and eating warm foods will add warming effects to your body.
Therefore, warming and cooling foods can be used to balance the body which may be deficient in yin or yang.
To ensure your experience is relaxing and produces optimal results, we want to take the time to explain a few preliminary office procedures.
The examination procedures are used to determine if acupuncture care is appropriate for your condition.
Acupuncture treatment procedures and your recommended treatment program will be explained to you.
Treatments will begin and continue as scheduled until your condition has been fully corrected, or until the maximum possible improvement has been obtained.
Treatment time: we ask that you allow adequate time for an effective treatment.
