In my acupuncture clinic I place an emphasis on patient education and empowering patients to make good health decisions. I have a profound desire for my patients to heal and I view myself as a guide in each patient's path to heal themselves. I am approachable and non-judgmental; there are no conditions that carry stigma in my practice and you can feel comfortable sharing information in a respectful and confidential environment.

I strive to treat each of my patients with dignity, compassion, and a sincere desire to help. I look forward to working with you on your path to health. Acupuncture's 3000-year-old roots have shaped it as a system of medicine that tailors treatments to each patient individually and hinges on communication between patient and acupuncturist. In this holistic evaluation of illness, acupuncturists are guided by what feels right naturally for the patient and what they sense intuitively about the illness.

The name Intuitive Acupuncture is an acknowledgement of this practice and of the art of understanding another person and treating patients as individuals.

My introduction to the principles of acupuncture were from my Tai Chi instructor over 25 years ago.
He promoted the principles of balance and the free flow of Qi that resulted from balancing one's mental, physical and emotional being.
He set me on a path to not only do this for myself, but to expand into helping others.
In 2006, I became certified in massage therapy and began a practice focusing on acute and chronic injuries.
In 2012, after a four-year graduate program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine I received my master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Ryan Sauter is the massage therapist currently working in the Intuitive Acupuncture office.
We have found that combining treatment modalities can be very efficacious for pain relief.
If you would like to schedule a massage and an acupuncture treatment back-to-back, please call the office!
Ryan graduated from the Healing Hands School of Holistic Health in 2010 and has successfully worked at a number of different clinics and spas since that time.
He uses a variety of different techniques including: Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, reflexology, and cupping to provide a massage which promotes relaxation and pain relief by matching the techniques to the specific situation and needs of the client.
One of the most rewarding things I do is getting patients out of pain.
Many patients have pursued standard Western medical therapies without relief and are trying acupuncture as a last resort.
Because acupuncture is very low-risk in comparison to many of the medications and procedures offered by doctors, I hope that more patients will try acupuncture before they have exhausted all other options.
In other parts of the world, acupuncture is among the first things a person in pain will try for relief.
Acupuncture is commonly used in East Asia where it is integrated into everyday medical practice and where its benefits have been recognized for thousands of years.
Acupuncture has only recently become a subject of scientific study in the United States, but nonetheless a multitude of studies have shown acupuncture to benefit a number of conditions, particularly pain disorders.
Studies have also elucidated some of the molecular mechanisms by which acupuncture works.
If you are interested in reading some of these studies, the Intuitive Acupuncture blog has articles highlighting recent acupuncture research and providing links to the abstracts.
